Play Workshop is a creative team of play space makers who champion creative design, products and nature-based play equipment. We have extensive experience in designing, project managing and building unique playgrounds and spaces. Our team includes Designers/Architects, Engineers, Carpenters, Artists, and Operations staff.
We are driven by designing equipment and play spaces that create adventure, excitement and smiles. Our play equipment enriches children through clever, imaginative and innovative design, maximising the immense value of play and creating wonderful memories that last a lifetime.
We are dedicated to helping like-minded playground designers to create amazing, unique, intelligent, inspired, and often nature-based solutions using high quality Australian materials.

Our Story
Play Workshop was established in 2016. Russell wanted to expand on his experience and expertise within the Australian playground industry, creating a company that prioritised creativity and collaboration. During the early years of Play Workshop the recognition of nature as an important foundation for play developed into a passion for play pieces that could be crafted to suit any site, utilising locally sourced Australian timber.
Natural materials can be crafted, carved and hand-worked, oiled, painted offer natural warmth and connective to nature. From simple log steppers to large timber play structures, Play Workshop has come to offer a comprehensive natural playground equipment range. In 2025, we understood that timber is not for all sites and clients , so we sought the opportunity to round out our natural, timber play offering by partnering with the wonderful Australian company, Activity Playgrounds. This partnership allows us to offer a broad range of high-quality steel-based combination structures and freestanding play elements. Like us, all products are proudly made right here in Australia and come with fantastic lead times. Their ranges now give us an enormous offering of covering all materials, styles to suit virtually all sites, budgets, and customer prepare.
Our highly skilled team is multi-disciplinary, and we provide services for play equipment design, manufacture, delivery, associated works and installation. We love to collaborate and discuss ideas, helping to bring our clients’ creative visions to life and achieve the best results for the end user.
